EqcoLogic has a world-class management and technology
team. As a spin-off of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), we
maintain access to the resources and expertise of a fine academic
group.
Peter Helfet - Chief Executive/member of the Board
An experienced entrepreneur, Peter led the creation of EqcoLogic, working with the
VUB since early 2004.
A Cambridge graduate, Peter's early background was in multi-nationals. He founded a major
UK technology company, Plasmon PLC, managing it through an IPO in 1996. Since then, he has worked
mainly with start-ups and VC investors in management and advisory roles.

Prof Maarten Kuijk - Chief Technology Officer/member of the Board
Maarten is the primary inventor of the EqcoLogic equalization technology; he and his team have been
developing the current products for over 7 years and have filed a number of patents as well as acquiring
substantial know-how relating to the development and implementation of communications circuits.
In addition to his role at EqcoLogic, Maarten continues to be a part time Professor at the VUB,
where he has been responsible for several successful research projects in a number of electronic and
opto-electronic fields.

Stephen Ellwood - VP Engineering
Stephen joined EqcoLogic early in 2008. He has 30
years industry experience with 10 years international
experience at executive management level in the semiconductor
industry. Stephen's last role was Vice President Engineering
at Chipidea Semiconductors NV in Leuven, Belgium.
Previous positions include VP Engineering at Artimi,
Director of Marketing at LSI Logic and VP Engineering
at Virata.

Koen Van den Brande - Senior Engineer
Koen completed his Masters degree at the VUB in 1999. He then spent 4.5 years with Alcatel and Thomson in
a number of engineering and project management roles. He returned to Brussels, joining the EqcoLogic team
in 2004.
Koen has a range of technical responsibilities in design, test and customer support.

Dr Xavier Maillard - Senior Engineer, Product Development
Xavier gained his Bachelor and Masters degrees at the VUB and, under Maarten Kuijk, completed his PhD in 2005.
He has been a key member of the equalizer development effort and is one of the inventors.

Dr Philippe Crama - Senior Engineer, Product Development
Philippe graduated with a Bachelor and Master's degree from the VUB. After his PhD (completed in 2004 at
the VUB), he worked for two companies in the private sector designing analog chips, then in an IT consulting
role. He joined EqcoLogic in 2007 where he takes responsibility for product design and test system management.

Bram Devuyst - Development Engineer
Bram completed both Bachelor and Masters degrees at the VUB, completing his studies in 2007. He joined
EqcoLogic immediately after graduation and is working on a number of product development and test projects.
