EqcoLogic has developed or is developing an application specific product for each of a number of leading electrical
communications standards. In addition, standard products that cover a range of speed requirements will fill the initial
product portfolio.
The application specific products are needed to address unique characteristics of the different standards, such as
communications set-up procedures, data encoding, transmission amplitudes, ECC and termination requirements.
The initial product range includes:
- Pro-video Equalizer for SDI and HDSDI applications:
- Operates at 280 Mbit/s to 1.45 Gbit/s, giving transmission range up to 200m
- Power consumption 140 mW (at 3.3V)
- Equalizer for Firewire (1394b):
- Operates at 125 Mbit/s to 500 Mbit/s, fully adaptive
- Allows use of UTP cable (Cat5e or Cat6), giving ranges up to 150m (125 Mbit/s) and 80m (500 Mbit/s)
- Power consumption up to 132 mW (13.2 mW in standby mode)

- Transceiver and Equalizer for Firewire (1394b) operating two-way over a single COAX cable:
- Operates at 125 Mibt/s (S100) to 1 Gbit/s (S800), fully adaptive
- Allows use of Coax Cable (50 or 75 ohm) of any diameter, for full duplex transmission over single cable; range dependent on data-rate and cable diameter
- Power consumption 148.5 mW (< 3.3µW in standby)

- Uncompressed video for DVI/HDMI applications:
- Quad circuit for four TMDS channels required by standard
- Extends reach of DVI/HDMI up to 50m with application specific cables, plus potential for up to 25 with Cat 6 UTP cable
- Backplane equalizer:
- Broad bandwidth product, designed to give up to 30 dB recovery at speeds between 1.25 Gbit/s and 6.5 Gbit/s
All of these products are made using industry standard CMOS techniques although,
depending on channel speed, lithographies between 130nm and 350nm have been employed.
EqcoLogic will develop further Equalizer products with or for partners,
given adequate market opportunity and mutually beneficial working relationship.
